What To Expect
What you can expect when meeting with the Dietitian for the first time
Nutrition Counseling
You will meet with Prem Singh, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Prem will complete a comprehensive review of your current health conditions , lifestyle habits , food preferences and address your specific concerns and questions.
You may also be asked to complete a 24- hour food recall. You will need to indicate all food and beverages that you consumed in a 24-hour period in this detailed questionnaire. This will help Prem determine your current food choices and meal patterns. Next, she will provide guidance in developing healthy food choices and positive lifestyle changes on which to focus. Together, you will develop goals that are S.M.A.R.T. The letters in SMART represent specific characteristics that together make up excellent goals.
S.M.A.R.T
MEASURABLE – All goals should include a measurable outcome.
ATTAINABLE – Choose a goal that you can achieve. Start with small changes.
You can always change your goals later as you progress.
RELEVANT – Make the goals relevant to what you want to accomplish.
TIMELY – Give yourself a time frame to reach your goals.
Eat Smart! Live Smart!
Finally, the Dietitian provides ongoing support to help motivate and guide you towards your goals. Goals are continually re-evaluated and updated based on the progress you make.
